Changelog

What is new in Heirsake. We keep a running record of the features and improvements we ship, so you can see how your family’s archive keeps getting better.

  1. Improved

    A changelog you can follow

We now keep a running record of what we ship.

    • Added this changelog, reachable from Help and Support inside the app.
    • Added a Technical section to the site so anyone can follow what is new.
  2. New

    Your places on the map

    • Places that have coordinates now appear as pins on the map, alongside your located photos.
    • A place pin opens to that place's page, so the map is a way to travel through the archive.
    • Added a Find coordinates helper in Places that looks up a place's location from its name.
  3. Improved

    A friendlier archive

    • Clicking a person now opens their page, and the hover panel carries everything in one place: their photo, their relatives, and quick actions.
    • Explore more now opens the connection walk for that person or thing, so you can follow where they lead.
    • A thing's page now shows its photos along with the people, places, and events connected to it.
    • Tidied the Things table so the column headings are no longer cut off.
  4. New

    A richer family tree

The tree now reads like a family, not a diagram.

    • People show their profile photo right in the tree.
    • Clicking a person opens a card with their dates, how they are related to the person you centered on, and one tap to walk to a relative.
    • Couples sit together and their children hang from a shared line, with clearer styling for step and half relationships.
  5. New

    Connections across your records

The technique family historians use to find people who belong together.

    • Research now surfaces people who keep turning up together across your records.
    • People named next to each other in a record, like neighbors on a census page, are flagged and ranked first.
    • Added an import lineage view so you can see each original file and how it became people, places, photos, and stories.
  6. Improved

More ways to bring photos in

    • Imports now accept more image types, including PNG, GIF, and TIFF.
    • You can crop and rotate a photo while keeping the original, and revert any time.
    • Made the Archive menu button easier to recognize.
  7. Improved

    Knowing who is who

    • People show a profile picture across search, their page, and the people lists.
    • Face grouping now matches the same person across ages more reliably.
    • Merging two entries for the same person is easier to reach and to do.
    • The To identify panel shows which source a mention came from, so Mom or Dad is never ambiguous.
    • Photos imported from documents now arrive with a written description and caption.
